About Blake Shelton

Country music singer and television personality Blake Shelton, born June 18, 1975, began his career with his debut song “Austin” in 2001. The song spent 5 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot Country Song Chart and quickly put Shelton in the spotlight.  His debut album released 2 more top 20 hits – “All Over Me” and “Ol’ Red” – and reached gold certification with the album selling 500,000 shipments.  Shelton began his career with Giant Records in Nashville but was transferred to Warner Brothers in late 2001 after Giant closed.

Shelton’s next two albums, The Dreamer and Blake Shelton’s Barn & Grill, were certified gold as well.  He released his fourth album, Pure BS, in 2007.  Its first two singles, “Don’t Make Me” and “The More I Drink”, both became Top 20 hits on the Country Charts reaching number 12th and 19th that year.  In 2011, Shelton released Red River Blue, which featured the song “Honey Bee” that would reach 135,000 digital downloads in the first week and gold status the seventh week.  The song would be his fastest-growing hit and would set the record for fastest gold certification by a male country singer.  “Honey Bee” would also go on to reach number one.

In 2012, Shelton’s eighth album, Based on a True Story, debuted at number one in the country radio and reached number one on the Country Airplay Chart.  In 2014, Bringing Back Sunshine, Shelton’s ninth album, put four singles – “Light”, “Lonely Night”, “Sangria”, and “Gonna” – at number one on the charts for the Country Airplay Chart.  Shelton has released his second greatest hits album, Reloaded: 20 #1 Hits, in late 2015.

Blake Shelton has charted 24 country singles, 15 reaching number one status, with “Doin’ What She Likes” breaking the record of consecutive number one singles on Country Airplay Charts.  He is also a six-time Grammy nominee.  Aside from his singing career, Shelton has been a judge on Nashville Star, Clash of the Choirs, and The Voice – with winners in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 7th seasons.  He has also won awards within the Academy of Country Music and The Country Music Association over his career that include Vocal Event of the Year with “Hillbilly Bone” in 2010, Male Vocalist of the Year in 2012, Gene Weed Special Achievement Award in 2013, and Song of the year with “Over You” in 2013.  Awards won solely with the Country Music Association include Male Vocalist Award in 2010 through 2014, Entertainer of the Year in 2012, Song of the Year in 2012, and Album of the Year with Based on a True Story in 2013.
