Arizona Wildcats football’s first season occurred in 1899. The Wildcats are now placed in PAC-12 Conference and they are members of South Division. Their colours are cardinal and navy and their mascots are Wilbur and Wilma Wildcat. They’ve been first spotted in 1959.

The Wildcats had made record, 20 postseason bowl appearances, they had started two seasons with a 10-0 start and recorded two seasons with 10-win as well as 9 bowl victories which all are NCAA records,

The university has never produced a Heisman Trophy winner but there were many accomplished athletes that left the university and many of them had made a career in NFL.

The most famous Wildcat is Rob Gronkowski, the freakishly skilled tight end who won a Super Bowl with the Patriots, was selected to Pro-Bowl and First-team All Pro four times, he led NFL in touchdown receptions and has set plenty of NFL records some of which include, most touchdowns by tight end (18), most receiving yards by tight end (1327), most career postseason receiving touchdowns by tight end in NFL history (9) and many others.

Another name that doesn’t sound strange to NFL fans is that of Nick Foles, a quarterback that holds the Arizona’s record for most passing yards in university history with 10011 as well as in single season with 4334.

Foles had led the NFL in passing rating in 2013, had been named NFC offensive player of the week twice, he had been named an offensive MVP during Pro Bowl in 2013. He also posted a Perfect Game which was the 60th time when it happened, in NFL history.

In basketball the Wildcats had definitely made a name for themselves by reaching NCAA tournament for 25 consecutive years, just two shy of North Carolina’s 27. The university reached the NCAA Final Four 4 times in their history, making it twice to the National Championship winning once against Kentucky Wildcats in 1997, losing the second appearance to Duke Blue Devils in 2001.

The Wildcats won conference tournament champions five times and conference regular season champions 27 times. Their biggest rivals are the Arizona State and UCLA.

The Wildcats players combined for 13 NBA championships, since the draft was shortened 1989 to two rounds the Arizona leads the nation with 69 players from their university being drafted by NBA team.

Among many successful athletes coming from the program one of the most known and definitely one of the hottest names in NBA currently is Steve Kerr who won five NBA championships as a player with two teams and also became a NBA champion as a coach. Known for his three point shooting abilities it’s no wonder his team, the Warriors is setting the world on fire with so many successful three pointers made.
