Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field has been the home for University of Connecticut football program since the year of its opening in 2003.The venue is built on a site of testing airfield which was named after founder of Pratt & Whitney. There are over 38000 seats at the stadium with additional 2000 standing room area in scoreboard plaza allowing over 40000 UConn Huskies tickets to be available for home games.If basketball is one’s sport of choice then a visit to Harry A.Gampel Pavilion is needed as that’s where the Huskies play most of their home games. About UConn Huskies

University of Connecticut founded its football program in 1896 and a basketball one in 1901. Through the years the Huskies were associated with several conferences but since 2004 the university was a member of Big East Conference, now known as the American Athletic Conference where the Huskies are in East Division of the NCAA Division I conference.The university has two version of its mascot, Jonathan the Husky. One it’s costumed and the other one is a live husky dog. The school’s colours are national flag blue and white.

Temple Owls, Syracuse Orange, UMass Minuteman and Rutgers Scarlet Knights belong to a group of rivals of the Huskies.Football program brought 26 conference titles to the university while having an all- time record of 502-541-38. The Huskies took part in 6 Bowl games, beginning with 2004’s appearance at Motor City Bowl where the Huskies defeated Toledo Rockets. To date UConn are 3-3 in Bowl games.There have been many Huskies that made it to NFL including Brian Kozlowski, who the UConn award is named after.Kozlowski, through hard work and dedication managed to play in NFL for 15 seasons as a tight end. He played in Super Bowl while being part of the Falcons team.

Basketball program at the UConn has been very successful with 4 NCAA tournament championships won by the Huskies. UConn have gone to NCAA tournament 33 times and won seven Big East Tournament championships for a total of 10, and out of their 34 conference regular season titles, 10 come from Big East.Since the 1990s Uconn has been seen as a consistent pipeline for players to enter NBA ranks and many players from the program took the opportunity to become successful NBA players including Ray Allen and Andre Drummond.Allen, played 18 seasons in NBA winning two championships, one with the Celtics and one with the Heat. He was selected to 10 NBA All- Star games and he is the NBA all- time leader in three- pointers made.Drummond, has been playing for four years in Detroit. He was NBA rebounding leader, NBA Rising Stars Challenge MVP and NBA All- Star so far.University of Connecticut has a very good history of team and individual success established, especially with their basketball program, and it doesn’t appear that matters will change soon.
