Bright House Networks Stadium is the home of University of Central Florida football program. Nicknamed “ The Bounce House” the stadium was opened in 2007 and it was the first on- campus stadium in NCAA Division I to be opened in XXI century.The total capacity is at over 44000 but the record of UCF Knights tickets sold reached 48453 in October of 2009.The stadium sometimes bounces visibly when students jump during “Kernkraft 400” song.Basketball at UCF is played at sports and entertainment venue, named CFE Arena that opened in 2007 and it can hold nearly 10000 spectators for game nights.

There isn’t a long history behind UCF sports programs as basketball program was established in 1969 with football program arriving ten years later. The Knights compete in East Division of American Athletic Conference, NCAA Division I (FBS for football).The university is represented by somehow futuristically looking knight that is known as Knightro which debuted in 1994. The school’s colours are black and gold and the main rivals of the Knights are East Carolina Pirates, South Florida Bulls and Tulsa Golden Hurricane.Despite short existence, football program won four conference titles and further four division championships to date while posting all- time record of 225-202-1.The Knights played in 7 Bowl games, beginning in 2005’s loss to Nevada at Sheraton Hawaii Bowl. Their combined record from Bowl games stands at 3-4.

Despite short life of the program the UCF produced quite a good selection of players who found their feet in the NFL, including Pro Bowlers and Super Bowl champion Asante Samuel and Brandon Marshall.Samuel, played 11 seasons as cornerback and won two Super Bowls with the Patriots. He was chosen to four Pro Bowls and led the league in interceptions two separate seasons.Marshall is the first wide receiver to have 1000 receiving yard seasons with four different teams. He’s also been selected to 6 Pro Bowls during his career, winning one Pro Bowl MVP award. Marshall belongs to 10000 receiving yards club as well as holding other NFL records including, most receptions in a game in NFL history with 21 and most seasons with over 100 catches, currently at 6.

Basketball at UCF had some success while competing in Division II as the Knights reached the Final Four Round. Since joining Division I, the UCF went to four NCAA tournaments, never leaving the initial round.The Knights were conference tournament champions four times and they had won one conference regular season title to date.The university hasn’t produced a lot of players who reached NBA ranks and from the few that did, only Joey Graham remained in NBA for some prolonged time as he played for few NBA teams during his six seasons before departing to Puerto Rican league. He tasted a bit of playoff atmosphere while playing for Toronto Raptors and Denver Nuggets.The University of Central Florida is a relatively young sporting program but the school already managed to achieve some level of success with developing players, especially in football.
