The Bulldogs appeared in 26 Bowl games winning 12 of them. They started well by winning their two first bowls but for the last 6 seasons they came out defeated including four consecutive losses by at least 24 points.

There have been NFL champions among the Bulldogs including players like Trent Dilfer, a quarterback, an overall 6th pick of 1994 draft who went onto winning Super Bowl with the Ravens when he played a single season with them. He was also voted to Pro Bowl in 1997 and is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers career wins leader.

Currently there is several Bulldogs in NFL, namely a quarterback Derek Carr, who was picked in 2nd round of 2015 draft by the Raiders, setting their franchise record of most passing yards by a rookie. He was also picked to Pro Bowl in 2015.

Another second round choice from 2014 draft hailing from Fresno State is a wide receiver, Davante Adams who was drafted by the Packers and who already showed a great potential amassing 929 yards on 88 receptions during his short NFL career. He also has 4 touchdowns to his name.

The Bulldogs were five times conference tournament champions and six times they had won the conference regular season title. There haven’t been plenty of players that made it into NBA successfully. Recently, player such as Paul George who was drafted 10th overall by the Pacers can say that playing basketball at the Fresno State was a good choice as he settled well in his NFL role, being named the NBA Most Improved Player in 2013, as well as being named to NBA All- Defensive First Team and having been to three NBA All- Star games.

Football definitely takes more of a spotlight when it comes to teams sports but basketball program has its good periods too.
