Have you even heard something about the Mormons? Do you know who are they? Did you read about them somewhere before? If not, you have a wonderful opportunity to get more acquainted with them. Thanks the creation of Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Robert Lopez the viewer is able to know about the culture of Mormons and find out the peculiarities about them. The musical is a religious satire musical telling about Mormon missionaries who were sent to a small settlement in Uganda in order to make their religion popular. The story somehow makes fun of the religious propagation, because who will believe in this? Who are these Mormons and what was their aim? Parker and Stone were brought in Colorado, where many Mormons lived; so the guys knew lots of things about this religious culture. The development of “The book of Mormon” began in 2003. During the years, Parker, Lopez and Stone conducted a research; they went to Salt Lake City to meet Mormon missionaries and talk to them about their life. The directors of “The book of Mormon” believed that it would help them to create more realistic musical. But only in 2011, after seven years of hard work, the musical was staged on Broadway. The performance got only positive feedbacks from critics and the audience. A nine-member orchestra played during the whole musical on different instruments: reeds, drums, keyboards, trombones, trumpets, violas, guitars and basses. The songs “All American Prophet” , “I Am Here for You” , “Man Up” , “Making Things Up Again” , “Baptize Me” , “Tomorrow Is a Latter Day” and many others became very popular. “The book of Mormon” got nine Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best music, Best orchestra, Best lighting effects and best sound etc. Moreover, it has won Grammy Award for Best musical Theatre album.
