About Buffalo Bills
Team colours are Royal Blue, Red, White and Navy Blue. The team’s mascot is Billy Buffalo, blue American bison, wearing jersey with the number “BB”. The team doesn’t employ any cheerleaders but it does have an official marching band.
Bills are the only team in history of NFL to appear in four consecutive Super Bowls, but unfortunately Bills are also the only team in the NFL that hasn’t reached the playoffs in 21st century. Bills were champions of AFL (before merger of AFL-NFL in 1970), twice and appeared in play offs several times. This year the team will be looking to go back into postseason, under careful eye of defensive mastermind Rex Ryan.
Rex Ryan is a well-established coach with several years of coaching experience and many more in different functions in various NFL teams. He’s very often outspoken and can be a colourful figure at the side lines of football fields. His teams are known for being physical and draining towards opponents’ offenses. And Buffalo Bills don’t look any different with few talented offensive players and a monstrous defensive line.
Bills aren’t poised to win their division this season due to eternal rival, Patriots being on a mission to defeat everyone in regular season but the spot in playoffs is well within their reach.
On offense they’ll be relying on services of a quarterback named Tyrod Taylor, who isn’t well known but who might be just enough to keep the offense ticking. Luckily Bills have last year’s rookie Sammy Watkins, who has the tools to be a great wide receiver and who proved that he can put some decent numbers last season. The team has also acquired a well-known running back LeSean McCoy who should fit in nicely in Ryan’s philosophy of ground and pound offense.
On defensive side of action there is Marcell Dareus who signed multi mega deal this offseason worth 108 million dollars. A great run stuffer, who also gets into opposing quarterback’s face improved d-line greatly. But opponent’s coaches can’t just focus on him as Bills also have Mario Williams, a sack master who is making a place for himself in history of Bills and NFL.
Not only front defensive line has playmakers, secondary has Stephon Gilmore, a rising young cornerback who gets his chance to shine under the coach Ryan and improve his craft as well as get few interceptions in the progress.
Given, how the offense isn’t built to be a high scoring one, and a game plan should always include a slow grind, having reliable kicker becomes quite important. Luckily Bills are covered here too, as they have Dan Carpenter who has been one of the most reliable kickers in the NFL over last two years.
At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter whether you win by a point or six of them, so yeah, there might be plenty of clutch kicks and winning field goals in dying seconds of a game coming towards Bills fans, just to keep the things that little bit more interesting.
