Vanderbilt University’s football program has been using Vanderbilt Stadium as their home venue since 1922, although the current venue was rebuilt in 1981 on the site of the original stadium named Dudley Field.The venue was the first college stadium in the south and with a capacity of over 40000 it is the smallest stadium in SEC giving the fans the least chances to obtain Vanderbilt Commodores tickets.Memorial Gymnasium has been in use by the university men and women basketball programs since 1952. Through its history, football program at Vanderbilt University won 14 conference titles and there were awarded national titles twice, although both were unclaimed by the university.The Commodores have an all- time record of 589-599-50 and 7 appearances to Bowl games, beginning with a sure win against Auburn in 1955 at the Gator Bowl. Their latest appearance was a winning game at the BBVA Compass Bowl in 2014 against Houston. To date the Commodores have compiled a 4-2-1 record from Bowl games.The university produced plenty of NFL draft crops through the years, some of the notable players include Jay Cutler of Chicago Bears and Will Wolford, both first round draft picks.Cutler, current quarterback of the Bears, has been in NFL since 2006. He went to Pro Bowl once and was AFC passing yards leader once. He’s current Chicago Bears all- time leader in wins, passing yards, touchdowns and few other categories.Wolford, played offensive tackle for 13 seasons, most of which he spent in Buffalo. He was three times Pro Bowler, once Second- Team All- Pro and he started all 191 games he had played in NFL.

Basketball program at Vanderbilt went to 14 NCAA tournaments, reaching the Sweet Sixteen round 6 times and their biggest accomplishment, the Elite Eight once in 1965.The Commodores were three times conference tournament champions and they have three conference regular season titles in their trophy cabinet.The Commodores are only one of three teams to make a 3-point field goal in every game since the rule implementation in 1986. They are currently on a streak of 959 games with a three pointer made.One of the better known Commodores in the NBA was Will Perdue who played center position in NBA for 14 seasons, mainly for the Bulls. He won three NBA titles with Chicago and one more with the Spurs during his career. Most of his career he was a reliable back up option to starting centers of the teams he was with.It is tough for the Vanderbilt Commodores to shine in one of the toughest college conferences but the university has maintained its tradition of developing reliable athletes that can make a career in the pro leagues.
