Veterans Memorial Stadium of Troy University is the home of Trojans football program. The venue has served the football program since 1950 when it first opened it doors.The stadium was renovated and expanded few times, the most recent additions being a large- screen endzone replay board and state of the art sound system. There are 30000 Troy Trojans tickets available for each game night at the venue.Basketball at the Troy University is played at the Trojan Arena, which was opened in 2012 as a replacement to long standing Saritan Hall and its capacity is just over 5000 seats.

About Troy Trojans

Football was established at the Troy University in 1909 and it took another 41 years for the school to bring in the basketball into its walls. The university had been a member of several conferences until 2001 when the school joined Sun Belt Conference, NCAA Division I, (FBS for football).The university is represented by a costumed mascot of a trojan named T- Roy. The colours representing the university are cardinal, silver and black.The main rivals of the Trojans are Middle Tennessee State, Jacksonville State and South Alabama.Football program at the Troy University has won 20 conference titles and claimed 3 national titles, 1 while being in NAIA and two while in Division II. Since joining SBC the Trojans claimed five conference titles. Their all- time record stands at 504-378-27 and the Troy went to five Bowl games starting with a shutout loss to Jacksonville State in 1948 at the Paper Bowl while competing in non FBS conference. The Trojans are 4-5 from all their Bowl games but their combined record of Bowl games since joining FBS is 2-3.

The school produced over 30 NFL draftees including some Super Bowl champions in DeMarcus Ware and Osi Umenyiora both being disruptive defensive players.Ware spent nine seasons playing for the Cowboys before joining the Broncos in 2014 and winning Super Bowl with them in 2016. He was twice the league’s sack leader, NFC Defensive Player of the Year and NFL Alumni Pass Rusher of the year in 2008. He was selected to 9 Pro Bowls and earned 4 First Team All- Pro nominations.Umenyiora, played 12 seasons in NFL, ten of which he spent playing for the Giants who he won two Super Bowls with. He was selected to two Pro Bowls and once he earned a nod to First Team All- Pro.Basketball at the Troy University has not achieved a lot as the Trojans qualified for NCAA tournament only once, in 2003. The university was conference regular season champions, six times.

There appears to be no players who attended the university to ever play in NBA, although there are several Troy Hall of Famers who played basketball at the university including David Felix who, to date, still holds the school record for assists and steals. He spent 32 seasons as an assistant coach under Troy University Hall of Famer Don Maestri, where he helped the Trojans lead the nation in 3- pointers made per game on six different occasions.Troy University is not the biggest one and it has not completed at the highest level of NCAA ladder for long but perhaps matters will change soon as the university established its own identity while competing in SBC.
