Texas Tech University uses Jones AT&T Stadium for their football program, Red Raiders. The venue, which is styled to resemble Spanish Renaissance architecture can accommodate over 60000 fans on a game night. The Stadium was opened in 1947 and it undergone some renovation works in XXI century. There have been some more demand for Texas Tech Red Raiders tickets in recent years and the student section of seats had to be expanded to allow more room.Basketball at Texas Tech is played at multi purpose use United Supermarkets Arena that can accommodate over 15000 fans. About Texas Tech Red Raiders

Both, basketball and football programs were founded the same year the school opened, in 1925. The university was a member of couple of conferences before joining the Big 12 Conference in 1996.Texas Tech’ mascots are Raider Red and The Masked Raider which is a primary mascot of a student riding a live horse. Raider Red is used at events where the Masked Raider is not allowed to attend. The colours of the school are scarlet and black.The Red Raiders’ primary rivals are Texas Longhorns, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Texas A&M Aggies and TCU Horned Frogs.There have been 11 conference championships won by the football program at Texas Tech with an additional one divisional title. The Red Raiders all- time record is 544-419-32 and the university has been to 37 Bowl games starting with 1938 Sun Bowl appearance on New Year’s Day against West Virginia. To date, the Red Raiders are 14-22-1 in these events and their last game occurred at Texas Bowl in 2015 where the university was defeated by LSU Tigers.

There have been over 150 Red Raiders drafted by NFL teams some of which won the Super Bowl with their respective teams including players such as Donny Anderson who played as running back and punter for few teams and who won two Super Bowls while playing for the Green Bay Packers. Anderson originated the concept of hang time in punting that allowed the coverages to develop better despite shorter distance in punt itself.Basketball program at Texas Tech brought 15 NCAA tournament appearances to school, five of which resulted in reaching the Sweet Sixteen stage which to date is the school’s best achievement in the tournament. The last time the Red Raiders reached the Sweet Sixteen was in 2005.Texas Tech University was five times conference tournament champions and they also claimed 11 conference regular season titles to date.The school have not produced a lot of players who went onto establishing NBA careers for a prolonged time. The only first round draftee from the school is Tony Battie, power forward/ center, who played in NBA for 16 seasons.

Battie developed into a solid role player and with age as a great veteran presence for younger team mates just entering the pro world. After retiring from NBA he became an analyst for one of his former teams, Orlando Magic.Texas Tech, being one of four universities in Texas have a lot of competition going on from its neighbours and despite lack of national championships, the school have produced some notable athletes, mainly in NFL.
