About San Francisco 49ers

San Francisco 49ers were the first major league professional sports franchise established in San Francisco and it happened in 1946.

The franchise hadn’t experienced a lot of success in its early years and beside a playoff appearance in 1957 the 49ers it took the franchise until the seventies to start making play off runs and eventually winning five Super Bowls in between the years 1981-1994.

The team’s colours are Red, Gold, Black and White and its mascot is called Sourdough Sam.

The 49ers are in NFC West division which they share it with the Seahawks, Cardinals and Rams. The division has been known to be a very competitive one in recent years.

The team I coached by Jim Tomsula who spent some of his coaching career in Europe. He joined the 49es as defensive line coach in 2007 and became the head coach in 2015 after the franchise somewhat started a rebuilding process.

Colin Kaepernick has been a force driving the team forward in recent year. He established numerous records including a 181 rushing yards in postseason by a quarterback. He and the team nearly won first franchise’s Super Bowl since 1994 but they lost in closely contested game which also was the first one in Super Bowl history that had two brothers coaching opposing teams.

The quarterback’s main supportive cast are wide receivers Torrey Smith and Anquan Boldin. Smith who won a Super Bowl with the Ravens (against the 49ers) joined the franchise in 2015 and having the experience of playoffs will be one of the better assets for the team to have.

Boldin in came to the 49ers in 2013 from the same victorious Ravens team who beat the 49ers in the Super Bowl XLVII and was awarded “Whizzer” White NFL Man of the Year (awarded for community work) and in 2013 had been voted to the 49ers Team MVP. He is also in the quite exclusive 10000 receiving yards club.

Defensively the franchise has trust in a very talented inside line-backer Navorro Bowman, very talented and skilled player who was voted to Pro Bowl twice and also has a rule named after himself due to a controversial outcome of a play he made during 2013 season.

He is paired with another well playing line-backer Ahmad Brooks who joined the 49ers in 2008 and had been voted to a Pro Bowl and led the league in post season sacks in 2013.

The 49ers are quite well known brand and a team with success but presently they appear to be in a rebuilding process so the fans might need to be a bit more patient with the team.
