About Phoenix Suns
Phoenix Suns was established in 1968 and it’s a franchise with highest winning percentage since its inception without winning a NBA championship in the league’s history.
The Suns went to postseason 29 times in their 47 history of existence, had 50 wins or more in a season 19 years, been to two NBA finals and nine Western Conference Finals and it’s the only major professional sports franchise to be named after the city of Phoenix as opposed to the state as a whole as some other franchises.
The team is a member of Pacific Division in Western Conference which they have won six times, second to 23 titles achieved by the Lakers. The colours of the team are orange, purple, gray, black and white and the Suns Gorilla is the team’s mascot, which is one of the most recognisable NBA mascots.
The team’s head coach is Jeff Hornacek former shooting guard who was drafted by the Suns in 1986. Hornacek is best known for his three point shooting abilities claiming two NBA Three-Point Shootout championships in 1998 and 2000. He became the Suns’ coach in 2013.
Phoenix Suns’ main contributors are Eric Bledsoe, Brandon Knight and Tyson Chandler. Bledsoe, a point guard drafted by the Thunder in 2010 and traded to the Suns in 2013 is well known for his quickness, good shooting abilities and well-rounded basketball craft hence he is the team leading scorer as well as a leader in assists and steals. Bledsoe made an impact instantaneously by being named to NBA All-Rookie Second Team in 2011.
He is supported in his craft by another well rounded shooting guard, Knight who is second in points, assist and steals recorded within the team. He joined the franchise in 2015 after spending some time with the Pistons and Bucks. He was named to NBA All-Rookie First Team in 2012.
A big body and also experience of veteran center Chandler who joined the team in 2015 will be counted on too to support the franchise’s young guards. Chandler has played for several teams in his career and he won NBA title with the Mavericks, he was also NBA All-Star in 2013 and a year earlier he earned himself NBA Defensive Player of the Year honours.
The starting five is completed by P. J. Tucker, a small forward who was BBL champion (German basketball league) and Jon Leuer power forward who also tasted a bit of European basketball.
