About New York Jets
New York Jets was established in 1959 as New York Titans. The change to the current name happened in 1963.
The Jets have won one Super Bowl, in 1968 where they beat then Baltimore Colts. It was the franchise’s lone trip to the Super Bowl making the team one of only three teams to appear in a Super Bowl once and win it.
The Jets are members of AFC East division who they share with Dolphins, Bills and their arch enemy Patriots.
The franchise doesn’t have an official mascot but at least they have very well named cheerleading team, Jets Flight Club, the team’s colours are Green and White.
Todd Bowles is the Jets coach, he was signed by the team last off season after he was awarded NFL Assistant Coach of the Year. He used to play as a safety and won Super Bowl when playing for Redskins.
The team doesn’t really have a solid option at quarterback position and it is part of their struggles. They do have some talented players in wide receivers, Eric Decker and Brandon Marshall.
Decker joined the Jets in 2014, he led the AFC in receiving touchdowns in 2012 and also had an experience of Super Bowl in 2014 as a Bronco.
Marshall has played for quite few teams and he was traded to Jets in 2015. He is one of only five other players to catch at least 100 passes in three seasons in the row. He also hold NFL record of 21 receptions in one game. The very talented and explosive player is also quite a verbal advocate of mental health.
The duo is complimented by a young running back, Chris Ivory who joined the team in 2013. Ivory can be a steady presence in the backfield and this got him awarded Ground Player of the week four times in his career.
On the defence the Jets are loaded with playmakers. There is the duo of cornerbacks, Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie, between them two they have been selected to Pro Bowl ten times. Cromartie holds the record for the longest play in NFL history, 109.5 yard missed field goal returned for a touchdown. He also led NFL in interceptions in 2007.
Revis who re-joined the Jets in 2015 after two years, got hold of a Super Bowl ring playing for Pats. His placement on the field is called “Revised Island” as Revis has a remarkable ability to shut down opposing receivers and this makes him thought to be the one of the best cornerbacks by many experts.
There’s also the monstrous defensive line and sometimes, all the Jets need seems to be is to acquire above average quarterback to take them to the heights.
