About New England Patriots
New England Patriots were founded in 1960 as Boston Patriots, they took the current name in 1971 after relocating to Foxborough. The franchise has been to Super Bowl record eight times (tied with the Steelers and Cowboys), first appearing in 1986.
They haven’t won Super Bowl until 2002 and then the success just hasn’t left the franchise.
Many, links Bill Belichick, head coach who joined the franchise in 2000 and is considered as one of the most brilliant football minds there ever been, as one of the reason why the Pats have managed to be so competitive in recent years. As after 2002 they also won Super Bowls in 2004, 2005 and 2015, appearing in two more in 2008 and 2012 where they lost twice to the Giants.
The team’s colours are Navy Blue, Red, Silver and White and the mascot is named simply Pat Patriot. Another crucial link to the franchise’s prolonged success is a future hall of fame quarterback Tom Brady, picked in 6th round of 2000 draft he will probably remain one of the best steals in NFL Draft. The list of his accomplishments is a long one, four times Super Bowl champion, 3 times Super Bowl MVP, 2 times NFL MVP, 3 times led NFL in passing touchdowns, first quarterback to score 50 touchdowns in a season…

Brady’s main man to go in recent years is a tight end Rob Gronkowski; drafted by the Pats in 2010 in second round he quickly became a massive mismatch on the field due to his athleticism and his size.
Mixture of talent, skills and size allowed Gronkowski to dominate the league very quickly and in his second year he established NFL records for tight ends receiving yards and total and receiving touchdown passes.
On the defence the team relies on superb performances from their safeties, Patrick Chung and Devin McCourty. The duo still being in their prime is the team’s solid last resort of defence. Especially McCourty showed some playmaking abilities recording seven interceptions in his rookie season makes it second best in NFL history.
The team is known for drafting very well and another valuable addition is Dont’a Hightower picked by Pats in 2012 line-backer who makes his presence visible in the middle of the field having great abilities in stopping the running game and also pressuring quarterbacks.
Stephen Gostkowski also must be mentioned; a placekicker who was the first to score 1000 points in his first eight years, holds the record for highest average points per game scored over a career. It’s really hard to imagine that this well decorated and successful team could be out of potential Super Bowl talk. Well, it can’t.
