Joe Aillet Stadium has been hosting Louisiana Tech football programs since 1968. The venue enjoys the use of all modern amenities and in 2009, when their “Dawgzilla” scoreboard was unveiled it was the largest one in Western Athletic Conference. About Louisiana Tech Bulldogs

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs football program was established in 1901, whereas the basketball was welcomed at the university in 1909. Through the years the college was member of quite few conferences and their current affiliation is with Conference USA, NCAA Division I, FBS where the Bulldogs have been since 2013.

The university colours are blue and red and there are two mascots representing Bulldogs. Tech- a live English bulldog and Champ- a costumed version. The university has one current rivalry with Southern Miss Golden Eagles. There used to be couple of more with Fresno State Bulldogs and Northwestern State Demons but they expired as the university moved to different conferences.

Football programs at the Louisiana Tech won three national titles, 25 conference championships and one division title. To date they compiled an all- time record of 596-446-39 and taken part in 8 Bowl games.

Half of their Bowl games happened during the Independence Bowl where the Bulldogs have an all- time record of 2-1-1, their last appearance was in 2015 at New Orleans Bowl and it resulted with a win over Arkansas State.

The most decorated Bulldogs in NFL are two Pro Football Hall of Famers, Terry Bradshaw and Willie Roaf.

Bradshaw played quarterback for the Steelers through 14 seasons, leading them to four Super Bowl titles, in which he was an MVP twice. He led the league in passing touchdowns twice, he was named NFL quarterback of the year among many other accolades. He was also the first quarterback to win three and then four Super Bowls.

Roaf, was an offensive tackle for 13 seasons and he played for the Saints and then the Chiefs. During his playing time he was chosen to 11 Pro Bowls and 6 First- Team All- Pros. He started 189 games out of 189 he played.

Basketball programs never won national championships but the Bulldogs have gone to 11 NCAA tournaments and their best achievement was to reach the Sweet Sixteen in 1985. They have also won 6 conference tournament championships and added further 25 divisional titles to their tally.

The most known Bulldog to play among the NBA greats was Karl Malone, who delivered great 18 seasons of playing for the Utah Jazz and one more for the Lakers.

Malone was NBA MVP twice, 14 times he played in All- Star game and he was the MVP of the game twice. He was selected to All-NBA First Team 11 times and remains the Jazz all- time leading scorer as well as two time gold medallist at the Olympic Games; the only thing that he missed on is the NBA title that remained just out of his reach.

Sports are quite important at the Louisiana Tech university and despite football taking more spotlight, the basketball had its moments of glory too.
