About Kansas City Chiefs
The franchise has been in 1960 and for the first two years it had been known as Dallas Texans before relocating to Kansas City in 1963.
The team has won two league championships including a win in Super Bowl IV which has been the team’s last appearance in the championship game.
Chiefs are placed AFC West division who they share with Raiders, Chargers and Broncos making the games between these teams that much heated. The team’s colours are Red, Gold and White and the team has couple of mascots, Warpaint a pinto horse that retired in 1989 and was brought back to teams’ tradition in 2009 while the league celebrated the AFL’s 50th anniversary. K.C Wolf is the official mascot of the franchise that was introduced 1989 after the original Warpaint retired.
The team has a curse hanging over it as in 1974 head coach, Hank Stram was fired from his job, he cursed the team saying they would never make it to the Super Bowl unless he’d wear the Chiefs red again. The Chiefs made play offs only once since Stram’s firing. Take it as you want.
The Chiefs are coached by Andy Reid who has many years of coaching experience and who has been with the team since 2013.
The team is led by Alex Smith, a quarterback picked by the 49ers as a number one rookie in 2005, Smith joined Chiefs in 2013 and had recorded 61st “Perfect Game” in NFL history (awarded to quarterbacks with perfect passer rating during a game).
Smith is supported by a running back, Jamaal Charles who leads the NFL in average yards per carry during the whole career.
The Chiefs also have a steady presence in Jeremy Maclin, a young wide receiver the team signed to long term contract this past off season.
On the defence the team counts on services of Justin Houston, an outside line-backer who nearly broke NFL record in sacks last season and has been signed to long term deal worth over 100 million dollars to provide steady stream of passer rushing skill to the team.
Eric Berry is another notable person on Chiefs roster, a very talented free safety was picked by the Chiefs in first round of the 2010 draft and his play guaranteed him three trip to a Pro Bowl in honour of his great playmaking. Eric is also known for overcoming cancer who he was diagnosed with in 2014 and making an emotional comeback to the team for this season.
The Chiefs are always there or there about and can never be discounted from making a postseason run despite the team’s curse.
