The country band was formed in Texas in 1989 and consists from three members; it is worth saying that all of them are women: Martie Erwin Maguire, Emily Erwin Robinson and Natalie Maines. The three friends started performing bluegrass and country music, but soon they began having pop songs as well. The Dixie Chicks were touring around the states in America. Their hits “There’s your trouble” and “Wide open space” brought a huge success in the beginning of the career, in 1998. In 2003 at the time the war event with Iraq held, they came with a concert to United Kingdom; on the great stage in London they announced that they don’t support violence and want peace to come on Earth. After the girls had returned to the United States, they were invited to many TV shows and conversations concerning their speech in London. Dixie Chicks won 5 Grammy for the song “Taking the long way” in 2007; they got the Grammy for the best album of the year; a song “Not ready to make nice” won a Grammy as well. By the year 2015 Dixie Chicks got 15 Grammy awards and the band is considered to be the best girls band in the United States.
