About Cleveland Cavaliers

Cleveland Cavaliers was founded in 1970 and have had the honour of being the city that had plenty of All-Star calibre players but has never managed to clinch the victory in NBA finals which they have gone to twice in their history both occurring in last 10 years. The team have clinched playoff berth 19 times winning its division four times too. They are also holders of the longest losing streak in major American pro sports with 26 straight losses.

The team’s colours are wine, gold, navy blue and white and Moondog, the team’s mascot is known for his walking events called “The Moondog 100k Challenge”. The Cave are members of Central Division which they how won in last season for the fourth time.

The head coaching duties rest in David Blatt’s hands since 2014, the year he was named Euroleague Coach of the Year before joining the franchise. He’s one of the most decorated American coaches in European basketball history, before becoming a coach he also played basketball in Israel for 9 years.

The Cavs’ fans hope for their franchise’s championship is LeBron James, a small forward drafted by Cleveland in 2003 with overall number one pick. James led the Cavs to two NBA finals but is yet to claim the ring for the team. He spent four years with Miami Heat between 2010-14 where he won two NBA championships, been named NBA MVP two times (two more with the Cavaliers), two NBA finals MVP before re-joining Cleveland Cavaliers in 2014. He has been very successful throughout his career, in 2013 he was named AP Athlete of the Year and some media compared some of his achievements to those of Michael Jordan.

But one man can win a game of basketball and James has a great support on the court in person of Kevin Love who joined the franchise in 2014 after several successful years of playing in Minnesota. Love who mainly plays as power forward, led the NBA in rebounding in 2011 and, unusually for a big player like him, had won NBA three-point shootout tournament that happened during All-Stars weekend, in 2012. He’s also gold medallist from Olympic Games in London where he played for the US team.

The experienced duo is complimented by a Canadian center, Tristan Thompson who was named to NBA All-Rookie Second Team, and a pair of veteran guards Mo Williams and J. R. Smith.
