California Golden Bears are located in Pacific Coast Conference (Pac- 12) in first division. Football team is member of North Division (FBS). The college’s colours are Berkeley blue and California gold and the mascot is a bear that goes by the name Oski (which is also another name for the god Odin from Norse mythology).

The football program kicked of here in 1886 while basketball started its roots in 1905. The college’s main rivals are Stanford Cardinal, UCLA Bruins and Oregon Ducks.

The football team of University of California had won five national titles all of which happened between 1920 and 1937. To the date, the Golden Bears claimed 14 conference titles and took part in 22 Bowls with a combined record of 11-10-1. Kidd, currently head coach of Milwaukee Bucks, was NBA champion in 2011 with Dallas Mavericks, led the NBA five seasons in assists, he was chosen to NBA All- Star game 10 times and was NBA Co- Rookie of the Year in 1995  with Grant Hill, among many other awards and nominations.
