About Atlanta Hawks
The origins of Atlantic Hawks can be traced to Tri-Cities where the franchise has started as Blackhawks in 1946. In 1951 the team was renamed to Hawks and moved to Milwaukee, after only 4 years the Hawks migrated to St. Louis where they had stayed for over 10 seasons and finally settling down in Atlanta in 1968.
The team currently owns the second longest streak of seasons without a championship, standing at 57. There’s plenty of hunger and expectations for the franchise to reach the NBA Finals as the only times they have done it happened while they were located in St. Louis winning the team’s lone championship and three more appearances in the Finals. The team is a member of Southeast division in Eastern Conference, and the Hawks claimed their first division title in last season. The team’s colours are torch red, volt green, georgia granite gray and white and during breaks the fans are entertained by Harry the Hawk the team’s mascot.
Head coaching duties belong to Mark Budenholzer who won NBA Coach of the Year award in 2015 and as a coach assistant he won 4 championships with the Spurs.
The Hawks have trust in All Horford their 3rd overall pick from 2007 draft. Horford who plays center/power forward positions, has been named to NBA All-Rookie Team in 2008, and have been to three NBA All-Star Games and is a centrepiece of the team’s offense.
He is paired with Paul Millsap who plays as power forward and who joined the Hawks in 2013 after quite a few productive years in Utah Jazz. Millsap will be trying to be a leading force and might become the team’s leader in rebounds and points made.
The big duo will be supported by Jeff Teague, a point guard who was chosen by the Hawks in first round of 2009 draft and who is going to be looking at making plays and spreading the ball evenly to team mates having the best chances at making the basket.
In the starting line-up there are also Kyle Korver and Thabo Sefolosha. Korver was traded to Hawks in 2012 and plays as shooting guard/small forward the same combination as Sefolosha who holds the NBA record for most consecutive games with a made three-pointer.
